About
Rachel Nicholson is a proud mom to 2 daughters, a Special Education teacher for over 15 years, and an advocate for inclusion and equity for all. Rachel has a Bachelors of Science in Human Development with a focus on Child Development from Cornell University, a Masters of Arts in Elementary Education (1-6) and Teaching Students with Disabilities (1-6) from Teachers College at Columbia University, and certificates in New York State School Building Leader and School District Leader from Hunter College's School Leadership Program. Rachel is dedicated to equity and inclusion in education, and has worked closely with the Center for Racial Justice in Education as a founding member of the Racial Justice Team at a partner school. As part of this partnership, she has attended teacher and family training, participated in school audits regarding equity and inclusion, and presented on the topics of equity and inclusion. Rachel is the current DEI representative for her child's elementary school and aspires to help all children feel seen, appreciated, and valued in their classrooms.
